Chairman Steve Shepherd
I have been chairman of Wisewood Juniors for 5 years now. I became involved in Wisewood through my son Marc who played for Wisewood from U8's through to 16 and still plays today for Hallam Wisewood under 18's.Wisewood in the past have always ended at age 16 but we have now linked up with Hallam FC at Crosspool for an exit route into senior football I am still part of a management team at this level.Junior football has changed in my time with the club and there is now a massive push by the FA to support grassroots football with children of all abilities, ethnicity and backgrounds to get involved. There is a huge amount of information on their website (link to FA website) for anyone who is interested. As Chairman I get involved with the structure and forward planning of the club and it has moved forward in the last few years, all be it has a long way to go. We ultimately want to have our own ground and facilities and we are currently working towards this end. We have a committee of very committed people both managers and parents who give up their time for the benefit of our kids and I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their efforts and would urge anybody who feels that they could offer a service, doesn't have to be in coaching, to contact either me or a member of our club. If we can give our kids structured coaching and organised football played in the right spirit it has got to help in both their sporting and social development and for every minute we can keep kids off the streets and give them something to look forward to it has got to be worth it. One of the most pleasing aspects of the club is that we now have a few young people who have played for the club in the past putting their time and effort in giving something back and hopefully the club will encourage other young players male or female to get involved in the future
Vice Chairman Dave Smith My association with Wisewood Juniors began in 2002 when my son started going to the academy. I volunteered to help and I have been helping ever since. I managed my son’s side from U8’s to U11’s before taking up the position of Vice Chair. I am still involved with the U12’s supporting the manager. We still run the academy and you can find me helping out on a Friday night with the Wisewood players of tomorrow. In my time with Wisewood, the club has grown steadily and we are embarking on a long journey to build on this growth. The club are looking to establish a permanent home and to secure the long term future of the club. We are aiming to become a development club and having secured standard charter club and being named the standard charter club of the year for our area we are well on the way. I am proud to be associated with Wisewood and to call on a large number of like minded volunteers who have a common aim to provide good quality grass roots football for boys & girls in the surrounding area. We still have a long journey but even the longest journey starts with a small step. If you would like to become part of the journey please come and find me on Wednesday night at training any help will be gratefully received
Treasurer Kevin Oates Like most people I got involved in the club when my son joined the U9s and through no fault of my own got 'elected' to be the manager. We didn't have enough for seperate U9 and U8 teams so half the lads played a year above themselves. Subsequently I took the U9s for two years and have followed them through to U14 this year. I am ably assisted by Kev Forster, the assistant manager and Pat Bailey who helps with the coaching. For my sins I am also the Club Treasurer. I can't begin to be able to tell you how much fun it is managing the accounts of 13 junior football teams. When I grow up I don't want to be a fooball manager or an accountant...........
Beverley Parrott Club secretary I got involved in the club when my 10 year old started training at the academy he then went onto play for the U8's thro to now in the U11's. I became the club secretary last season and have the job of attending the monthly Sunday League meeting and also the Managers meeting for the club. I keep managers up to date on any rule changes, and about what goes on at the meetings. I try to keep them organised with the paperwork and I am also there to sort out any problems for them. I am looking forward to seeing the club progress and have it's own ground and facilities which should pull all the age groups together.
