Under 18s
Team Manager Tom Delaney
Tom Delaney
I am 40 yrs old and have been associated with Wisewood both as a manager & a parent for over 10 yrs. Both my sons have played at Wisewood during this time.  I have my FA coaching level 1, 2, & 3. I have wide experience of managing junior football teams and this season I am taking on Hallam/Wisewood U18s "B" Team, I am really looking forward to the challenge of managing our fledgling senior side.
We play in the DB Sports U18s Div 1 where we are currently high in the Div. These are a new set of lads with only 3 or 4 of then coming through the ranks from Wisewood U16s.
We are looking to bring players to the club that want to play at a higher level and thet are willing to compete for their place in the team.
Results/Scorers/Reports

10th April
Hallam/Wisewood B   v  Maltby (Salmon 1, Delaney 1, Pemberton 1 & Mc Candless 2) Result 5-4 (W)

What a fantastic game of football. Illness & work commitments left us facing Maltby with 10 men. To the lads credit they never looked like they were a man down. We took the lead when Jarvo found himself free at the back post and knocked it i in 1-0 . Take nothing away from Maltby they were strong and with good pace and duly equalised , then within 5 mins we were 2 - 1 down at half time. After positive words at half time JD Knocked a ball on for Pembo who lobbed the keeper to bring it back to 2 -2, the lads played some great passing football but it was Maltby who took the lead 3 -2, before we new it we were 4 - 2 down with 12 mins to go , but this team have some great team players and to his credit playing up front on his own the whole game JD chased a hopeful ball over the top and beat the keeper , took it round him and brought it back to 4 - 3. Surely we couldn't come back again , but true to that great team spirit JD & Pembo played some great football down the wing JD bust into the box and who was there? Right back Reece Mc Candless 4-4, with only minutes to play (Well take that ) but no, the same move 3 mins later involving the same players found Reece again same place different time 5 - 4 . Foxy and the lads at the back had a great game and our midfield worked tirelessly to ensure we challenged for every ball.
Like I said last week when its time to praise the lads I'm the first to do so !

17th March
Abbey Lane  V  Hallam/Wisewood B     (Pemberton 1, Gayle 1)   Result 2-2 (D)
Chris Taylor took the lads today and he was impressed with the lads work rate and good team spirit. The first half saw Abbey Lane taking the lead on a really bad surface , but to their credit the lads dug deep and Pembo brought us back into the game. The second half started well but the lads lost their way for 20 mins or so , but some good work from the lads saw Gayle draw the team  level. Towards the end of the game JD had 2 chances to steal the points but on a very poor surface the chances came and went.
Well Done to the lads who worked very hard in really bad conditions for a good point !!!!

9th March
Sheffield FC   A  V      Hallam/Wisewood B  (West 2)                 Result 0-2 (W)
First half was a scrappy affair not a lot to talk about, average performance. After an inspiring team talk by myself at half time , the lads went out and started playing some good passing football which resulted in Matt West putting us 1 up(question of offside !!! Never) . 5 mins later again some good passing football resulted in JD slotting the ball inside for Matt West to net his 2 nd goal of the game ( offside !!!! which one ) . Some great defending and a team rallying 2 nd half performance a credit to hard work . WELL DONE !!!

24th February
Hallam/Wisewood  v  Beighton Magpies                                 Result 3 - 3 (D)
Hallam/Wisewood started well and took an early lead through JD but the Magpies pressed on and and went into the interval with a 2 -1 lead only because of a truly outstanding save by Harry Shaw.In the second half the lads stepped there game up and were rewarded with a penalty which Joe Taylor dispatched  with confidence. Magpies took the lead again with a looping header which caught out keeper Shaw, with 5 mins to go some good work from Matty & Jarvo down the right wing found Pembo on his own in the six yard box and he finish with ease.
Again the lads played some good football in patches but lost there concentration which let Magpies in , but even with some players having a rare off day it was a GOOD all round team performance. Well done !!!!!

10th February
Hallam/Wisewood B    V    Handsworth OB                         Result 5 - 2 (W)
Scorers O Mally 1, Gayle 2, Salmon 1, Christian 1
Another great game of football nothing less than 110%was given from each player. In th first half the lads played some good football and went in at half time 3-0 up. To there credit Handsworth fought back to 3-2 in the first 20mins of the second half, but with 15mins to go some great passing football ended with Josh Gayle finishing with a brillant goal then Jarvis Salmon making it five.
WELL DONE ANOTHER GREAT TEAM DISPLAY!!!!!!

27th January
Surud United v Hallam/Wisewood                         Result 1 - 9 (W)
O Mally 3, Salmon 3, Delaney 2, Mc Candless 1
A big thanks for the guys that turned out for this game, I know some of you had tickets for the United game but you put the team first even after a 9 week lay off.
This again was a hard fought scrappy game with some good goals and some terrible misses(you know who you are) but we march on with the next 3 games all at home.
Once again well done !!!!!

18th November
Junior Blades v  Hallam/Wisewood B                        Result 3-1 (L)
This was a really hard fought game with both teams playing good passing football but Blades were the stronger team on the day. Taking nothing away from the lads it was an honest performace from everyone. WELL DONE
